About Dr. Kamlesh Pandurang Bokil

Dr. Kamlesh is a Consultant Surgeon and Oncologist at Dwidal Nursing Home, a Senior Consultant in Surgical Oncology at Ruby Hall Clinic, an Hon Professor of Surgery, Surgical Oncology and Liver Transplantation at Sassoon General Hospitals and Byramjee Jeejeebhoy Government Medical College – all in Pune. He has completed his graduation from Pune, post-graduation courses from Mumbai and has also undergone Training in Liver Transplantation, Liver Resections, Hepato-biliary reconstructions at King’s College Hospital, Liver Transplantation Services in London, UK

Dr. Kamlesh has been invited as a faculty to chair several sessions and has presented his research work as oral and poster presentations at national and international conferences like Heterotopic Pancreatic Tissue causing small bowel intussusception, as a cause of chronic abdominal pain - a series of three cases, presented at MASICON '90, Faculty at Specialist Breast Cancer – National Surgical Panel, etc. He has an immense passion for research and is currently a part of several clinical trials as a co-investigator or a principal investigator. He has also been part of several international conference such as International Conference on Digestive Surgery, Hamburg, Germany (2000), European Breast Cancer Conference at Hamburg (2004), Global Breast Cancer Meeting at San Mitges, Spain (2005) and ASCO, Chicago, Ilinois, USA (2008). He has been a faculty at Surgical Workshop on Breast Conservation surgery for breast cancer and reconstruction, held at the Ruby Hall Clinic (a joint venture between Pune Surgical Society and the Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai) in 2003 and also for Head and Neck Workshop at the Ruby Hall Clinic in 2004, along with several other extracurriculars that he likes to pursue.

Dr. Kamlesh has started a Liver Transplantation Unit and is carrying out Surgical Oncological operations and is actively involved in teaching the Residents and Undergraduate students. His interests majorly reside in Surgical resections and reconstructions for Head and Neck malignancies, surgery and primary reconstructions for Breast cancer and sphincter saving surgery for Rectal tumours, Liver Transplantation, liver resections, hepato-biliary reconstructions and has performed more than 100 Deceased Donor liver transplants, 6 living related liver transplants and three combined liver + kidney transplants, till date. He continues to contribute to the society through several public education programmes to increase awareness for Human Organ donation in cadaveric cases, and some in Breast and Head and Neck Cancers as well.
