About Dr. Intezar Mehdi

Dr. Intezar Mehdi is currently the Director and Head of the department of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology & BMT, HCG Hospital (HCG Cancer Center), Bangalore. Dr. Intezar following his post - graduation in pediatrics, went on to pursue MRCPCH at the RCPCH (Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health), U.K and specialist training in Pediatric Hematology/ Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant at the Children’s Hospital, King Saud Medical Complex (Riyadh Medical Complex), Riyadh, KSA. Dr. Intezar also obtained his FRCPCH in the year 2020 from RCPCH (Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health), UK.

Dr. Intezar has an intense passion for research and has chaired around 80 sessions in the form of individual speaker webinars, case-based discussions and panel discussion on several topics involving paediatric haematology on both national and international scientific platforms the most recent one being Panel discussion (webinar) – Hematology in a nutshell Case based scenarios and quiz for practicing pediatricians- Panelist-Sep 2020, he has also presented his research work in the form of posters at the annual meeting of the American Society of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, International Society of Pediatric Oncology, Dublin, Ireland, International conference on hematology and oncology, Bangkok, Thailand to state a few. He has also been awarded on the academic front with 1st Prize in the PALS training course at St. John’s Medical College, Bangalore – 200 and 2nd Prize for paper presentation at Indian Academy of Paediatrics, State Conference, Gadag, Karnataka, India - Sept 2002. His research work has been published in several National and international peer reviewed journals.

Dr. Intezar extends his knowledge and service to the community through several cancer awareness prevention and treatment – Community awareness programs. He has also organised several camps and been involved in rural surveys and social platforms such as program on childhood cancer awareness – Radiocity 91.1 FM, Mumbai Radio, September 2018. He is a member of several scientific societies such as Royal College of Paediatrics & Child Health (RCPCH), UK – Fellow, Member, Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP), International society of Paediatric Oncology and Indian Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (ISBMT), he is also a reviewer in several journals such as Indian Journal of Palliative care (IJPC), Indian Journal of Paediatrics (IJP), Indian Journal of Child Health (IJCH) and Indian Journal of case reports (IJCR).
