About Dr. Ghanashyam Biswas

Dr. Biswas is a full-time consultant Medical Oncologist and Executive Director at Sparsh - AOI, Sahid Nagar and Visiting consultant at Kalinga hospitals and BR Life, in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. He is also a professor to Junior residents and oncology nursing students as Senior Resident, Medical Oncology, Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai and is also a Professor of Medical Oncology, Department of Medical Oncology, IMS Sum Hospital, Bhubaneswar, as a teaching faculty.

Dr. Biswas has been an organizer for several conferences like 18TH ICON (2008), ICC Conference (2011), OSOCON (2016), 1ST Indo-Oncology Summit (2018) and 2ND Indo-Oncology Summit (2019). He has been a part of several global and national clinical trials such as A Randomized , Multicenter, Double – Marked , 3 parallel Arms , Placebo, controlled study to assess the efficacy and safety of NOVA22007 1 mg/ml (Cyclosporin/ Cyclosporine ) eye drops , emulsion administered in paediatric patients with active severe vernal kerato- conjunctivitis with severe Keratitis (national), A Randomized , Double blind , Placebo – controlled , phase-III study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Afatinib (BIBW 2992) as adjuvant therapy after Chemo-radiotherapy in primary unresected patients with stage III,IV a or IV b Loco- regionally advanced head and neck Squamous cell Carcinoma (global), and many more. He has published a number of papers in many journals and has also presented numerous posters at various conferences and meetings (both national and international).

Dr. Biswas has received recognition from the society in the form of several awards such as “Abdul Kalam Award’ by Honourable Home Minister Dr Damodar Rout on behalf of Saisab Foundation, “Best Oncologist of the Year" by Times Health Icons Bhubaneswar 2017, “Best Oncologist of the Year" by Times Health Icons Bhubaneswar 2018, Felicitated by Samparka Parivar Cuttack, in the year 2016, etc. He has been a contributor to chapters in 2 books – Evidence based management of cancers in India, 2004 and Consensus Document for management of Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma High Grade (ICMR 2016). He specializes in lymphomas, ovarian cancer, lung cancer, breast cancer and GI cancers and is actively involved in clinical researches and social awareness programs. He holds the life membership of various bodies such as API (National) & Odisha state branch, ICON, ISO, ISSLC, ISMPO, ISHTM, ISNO, OSO and many more.
